PSV Mechanic & Body Shop Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile PSV Mechanic & Body Shop Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in maintaining, servicing, and repairing PSV (Passenger Service Vehicles), as well as expertise in bodywork and painting. This dual-role position requires someone confident in mechanical fault-finding and repair, while also being able to carry out high-quality body repairs and refinishing. The role will be based across our Barnoldswick location.

Salary: Starting at £45k per year, depending on experience, with up to £5k bonus. Candidates with their own tools will be prioritised.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and mechanical repairs on PSV vehicles.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Perform body repairs including dent removal, panel replacement, welding, and refinishing.
  • Prepare and paint vehicles to a high standard using proper colour-matching techniques.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including diagnostic tools, spray guns, and welding equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with DVSA standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work and report issues to management.
  • Work flexibly across both Preston and Barnoldswick sites as required.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with company standards.

Requirement

  • Proven experience as a PSV/Heavy Vehicle Mechanic and/or Body Shop Technician.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of PSV vehicles, including brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Skilled in bodywork repairs, panel beating, welding, and refinishing.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to perform accurate colour matching and high-quality paint application.
  • Own tools preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (PCV licence desirable but not essential).
