General Banking Officer

Job Description

A General Banking Officer is responsible for providing efficient customer service and handling various banking operations at the branch level. They handle account opening, manage customer queries, and process non-financial transactions accurately. They also assist in maintaining fixed assets inventory, security stationary, and administrative support. Additionally, they handle customer complaints, refer customers to appropriate services, and ensure compliance with banking regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and efficient handling of customers in the branch and provide services according to laid down service and quality indicators.
  • Work in all operations segments of the branch as an inputter/maker level.
  • Handle account opening and related processes including dormancy marking/removal, stop payments marking/revoking, account closures, SOA issuance, loan account opening and closing, deceased marking/removal, Level Migration, etc., for Core and Jazz Cash customers.
  • Participate in Gold Loan assessments.
  • Preparation of deceased customer cases for refund and maintaining records, manage customer queries efficiently.
  • Review and monitor service indicators assigned to the branch and take steps for their achievement.
  • Perform all types of non-financial transactions with accuracy as per SOP.
  • Guide walk-in customers and cross-sell bank products.
  • Prepare all types of reports for submission to CSM and Head Office.
  • Verify the entire inventory of Fixed Assets by physical check once a year and reconcile fixed assets register.
  • Be the custodian, along with other officers, of all types of security stationary and its balancing.
  • Handle administrative support of branch in liaison with CSM/BM.
  • Handle customer complaints, providing appropriate solutions and alternatives within TAT.
  • Prepare and maintain all types of registers/records up to date.
  • Review all types of Sundry and Suspense accounts for reconciliation.
  • Scan and upload SS cards daily, input clearing instruments and mark returns.
  • Refer customers to appropriate banking services and representatives; issue/destroy cheque books, Bankers Cheques, and TDRs and maintain balancing.
  • Custodian of received cheque books/ATM cards and ensure their delivery/maintenance as per SOP; act as Teller backup.
  • Ensure accuracy of cash sorting per SBP clean notes policy, process cash deposits and withdrawals according to operations manual.
  • Identify and report counterfeit notes; process all cheque deposits accurately.
  • Ensure cash exchange between tellers when multiple tellers are present.
  • Ensure cash transfer from till to vault and vice versa at start and end of day.
  • Perform FT’s, TT’s, and clearing entries accurately; balance cash at end of day (physical cash with system T24).
  • Maintain cash balancing register and prepare Teller Daily Cash Record, SBP Sheet, Vault Position, Average Sheet, and other cash-related reports.
  • Be the custodian of allocated keys and stamps.
  • Perform any other responsibility assigned by LM.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree from a reputable institution in relevant field.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience.
